New app from HiQ set to support motorists in a roadside emergency

Motorists need no longer be caught out by the unexpected when they break down on the roads, thanks to a new app that’s being launched this month. ‘Pocket HiQ’ has been developed by HiQ, one of the UK’s leading tyre and fast fit specialists, to provide motorists with all the information and support they might need when they’re on the go - proving particularly useful in a roadside emergency.

Free to download now from the App Store and the Play Store, the app is ideal for smartphones and tablet users, and features a whole host of functions including quick call links for a selection of breakdown providers as well as geo-location technology to find places of interest nearby should motorists need to find convenient local facilities such as a café or petrol station. The app also provides directions, opening times and details of how to get in touch with the nearest HiQ centre should a motorist need a new tyre or other vehicle maintenance.

Further going the extra mile, ‘Pocket HiQ’ will help motorists to be fully up to speed with the maintenance of their car before they set out on a journey or whilst they’re out and about thanks to other helpful features such as a road side quiz and helpful articles, a mileage and tyre pressure calculator, plus MOT and service reminders.

Talking about the benefits of ‘Pocket HiQ’, Geraldine McGovern, Channel, Retail & Create Demand Marketing Manager for HiQ, said: “Now that motorists can access faster mobile speeds thanks to 4G and wifi hot spots, we’re seeing a real trend in drivers relying more and more heavily on their smart devices when they’re on the move.

“The app has not only been designed to meet the needs of motorists in an emergency, but will also educate drivers in how best to keep their car maintained – from being reminded to check tyre pressures every six weeks and ensuring you’re up to date with your MOT or service, all the way through to refreshing themselves on the highway code through our road side quiz.

“It’s easy to panic when in a roadside emergency as motorists may not know who to call, what to do, or sometimes even where they are in relation to nearby facilities, so we hope that motorists will feel the benefit of ‘Pocket HiQ’.”

HiQ has also enhanced its website www.hiqonline.co.uk with a new help and advice section providing motorists with handy hints and tips. It also offers an improved search feature that enables drivers to enter their postcode and car registration into a field, and at a click of a button locate the nearest HiQ which has the tyres they need in store, with a purchase online function and get fitted in store. Motorists can also take advantage of tyre pressure, MOT and service reminders.
