On 22nd February enthusiastic Futsal players took part in the 2014 Goodyear Dunlop Indoor Under 12's tournament held at Henry Box School, Oxfordshire. Teams from across the county including the Bampton Rangers, Wantage Town, Quarry Rovers and Abingdon Youth donned their team colours in the hope of being crowned champions.
After a strong competition in this popular fast paced sport, the final came down to joint league leaders Bampton Rangers and Quarry Rovers as both went into the final unbeaten. After a close fought battle the Bampton Rangers reined champions after winning the final 5-1.
Goodyear Dunlop Retail Director, Farrell Dolan presented team captain Jacob Godfrey and under 12’s coach Phil Godfrey with the winner's trophy.
Dolan commented that, 'It's wonderful to see so many enthusiastic players not only playing at a very impressive level for such young players but also showing great team spirit. We're thrilled to be sponsoring such a fantastic community event and look forward to seeing all the team's progress over future tournaments.'
With top class players such as Pele and Cristiano Ronaldo starting out their careers in Futsal, the skill and pace of these youngsters could be gracing the Premier League in the future.
