A Honiton fast fit centre is aiming to raise hundreds of pounds for charity when it re-opens its doors to motorists after a £20,000 makeover. HiQ Honiton will celebrate its radical new makeover on Friday by donating £1 from every tyre sale to Breast Cancer Care - the company's official charity for 2009. The centre, which specializes in all aspects of automotive care, will officially re-open on Friday May 8 from 8.30am to 5.30pm.
Staff will also provide free tyre checks to all motorists on Friday and Saturday, to ensure that their Bank Holiday weekend journeys are carried out as safely as possible. A buffet will be available for visitors along with various tyre discounts and Goodyear Dunlop managing director Mark Brickhill will officially cut the red ribbon to re-launch HiQ Honiton at 12 noon on Friday. The King Street centre has undergone the facelift to become Honiton's 'flagship facility for motorists.' Centre manager Julian Hellyer carried out extensive research to find out how it could improve its service to motorists. He said: "Our research highlighted what the industry has suspected for a long time. On the whole customers find visiting a fast fit outlet to be a negative experience for several reasons. "Centres are seen as dirty, unwelcoming and confusing; prices are unclear with quotes invariably increasing once a job has been carried out and customers feel they have no control over appointment times, waiting times and choice of product." HiQ Honiton is designed to place the customer at the heart of the experience utilizing the following features: * Clearly signed forecourt and parking area * A modern, clean, welcoming reception area * Menu boards with all pricing clearly identified * Tea and coffee making facilities to all customers * Information clearly displayed and written in non-confusing jargon free language The HiQ centre has just been purchased by Julian along with franchisee Gary Thomson, and he has already turned the centre's business fortunes around, making a 21 per cent increase in turnover since taking over at the start of the year. This increase in the business has been re-invested in the store and will safeguard the long term employment of the 4 local staff.
