Award winning Eagle flying into HiQ forecourts
20th September 2011
Motorists have been given another compelling reason to visit their nearest HiQ fast fit centre, after the network became the first to stock Goodyear's new award winning Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tyre.
The tyre, which recently ranked first in Auto Express's Big Tyre Test 2011, is now available across the HiQ network and is highly recommended thanks to its impressive performance across nine different disciplines.
The leading UK automotive magazine tested ten leading tyre brands at Bridgestone's test facility in Aprilia, south of Rome, with the Goodyear product topping the tyre league.
Each tyre manufacturer sent ten tyres for test, eight to be used for track testing and two for rolling resistance. The magazine also bought two sets at random and compared them to the supplied rubber on the wet braking strip; proving that they were testing exactly what you can buy.
They tested nine disciplines in total including wet and dry braking, handling and cornering, straight and curved aquaplaning, rolling resistance and noise.
Auto Express looked for the best overall tyre and Goodyear ranked highly in the majority of areas.
The tyre, which is designed to answer the most pressing needs of consumers of Ultra High Performance tyres with its ActiveBraking Technology, gave 'wet road confidence backed up by podiums for braking and cornering'.
What impressed Auto Express the most was Goodyear's ability in the dry weather conditions commenting: 'Yet while we expect Goodyear to do well in the wet, its ability in the dry was a surprise. It turns in sharply and hangs on well.'
The overall verdict was that the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 was an 'Impressive all-rounder that is an excellent choice for any conditions'.
Michelle Fisher, Goodyear Brand Manager said: "We are thrilled to receive the Auto Express 'Best Buy 2011' award, ranking in first place.
"We launched the new Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 earlier in the year and focused the tyre on increasing road contact during braking, delivering significantly shorter braking distances on both dry and wet roads.
"This really came out in the test, particularly in the dry weather performance criteria. This is yet another win for Goodyear's portfolio this year after winning original equipment fitment on the exclusive high performance Mercedes-Benz CLS four-door coupe with the new tyre."
